A new year! Another opportunity to revisit the 4 Cs of life:

Communion — our walk with God
Community — our walk with others
Co-labour — our participation in God's purposes
Cadence — our commitment to live with a work-sabbath rhythm

Communion
Read Matthew 6: 9–13

What does it mean to glorify God in your life this year?
What does God’s will be done in your life entail in 2024?
What do you need to trust God for this year?
What do you need to do to deepen your intimacy with God this year?

Community
Read 1 John 4: 7–12

You can’t love God without loving people. Do you agree?
Relationships require time and effort. What relationships in your life will need work this year?

With your brothers and sisters in your church community?
With your family?
With your friends?
With your neighbours?
With your enemies?

How will you show them love?
How will you receive love from them?

Co-labour
Read Matthew 5: 13–16

Who will you share the gospel with this year?
How will you bring biblical values into your work?
How will you help the poor and those who are victims of injustice?

Cadence
Read Deuteronomy 5:12–15

You need sabbath times so that you can:

  • rest
  • remember — who God is, who you are, and what is the purpose of life
  • reconnect with God and people.

Are you committed to living life with a work-sabbath balance?
How can you do better this coming year?

A new year gives us the opportunity to look at our lives and see how we are doing in the four key areas of life. We do not “arrive” until the day we see Jesus face to face. But we can grow to be more of what we should be till then. And it is not so much “setting goals” but ensuring we are on the right trajectory. Here is to a God-focused 2024.
